Last saturday was Singapore Day. Its the first time its held at London since held at places like New York and Melbourne the last 2 years. It was held at Hampton's Court, a palace from the time of Henry the VIII I think...

Giant banners that welcomed us.

Interesting way to welcome us right? haha..

First queue for the day - Hokkien mee!!

Very authentic chef

And this is so authentic also. The uncle quite funny. Kept asking singaporeans "有没有想家?伦敦有什么好? 在这边有没有人欺负你?" etc..

They gave out quite a good Goodies bag. With a mat, some titbits, and this packet of wet tissue! so singaporean indeed. But alas, we do not practise the "chope!" culture here.

Althought I do not exactly know where is this orchard road carpark char kway teow, but I enjoyed it all the same. is this the same as the ones at Wisma food court and the Esplanade open air food centre?

This chicken rice is really quite good. Although abit cold. But no complains really..

We queued for 45min for this! Oh see the goodies bag on Ping's hands? yes, that's the goodies bag they gave out. Its all a very "I love SG" message throughout.

Besides food, there were quite alot of entertainment. With quite alot of mediacorp stars flown in. I heard from my mum that jack neo and lee guohuang flew to london and didn't even attend the star awards to receive their top 10 awards!

Scores of pple picnicking in the good weather.

Dim Sum dollies performing their act.

First time I took photos with Singapore celebs (except for SYZ!)

Enjoying pulau hitam! gosh how i miss this.... my ah ma used to make it too and it is delicious!

Can u see the sign board? Lau pa sat or marina bay?
Was still telling my msian friend, lau pa sat actually brings me bad memories. coz its the only place where we can get dinner / supper when we work OT or on sat/sun at KP.

After leaving the singapore day site, we went to take a walk in the hampton's court garden.

Garden of Hampton Court.

Tulips in abundance too.

Ping said good that she doesn't have to go to Amsterdam to see tulips since she saw it in Hampton's court too. But, its different!

The weather was so good, me and Ping spent like 1-2hrs just lying on the grass of hampton's court and enjoying the sunlight. and to my horror this morning, I noticed more freckles on my face!!!!!! Think I really need to start taking good care of my face :(

Hampton's Court.
I must admit, it was really alot of efforts by the govt to get us to go home. alot of fellow msians who went, also felt so grateful coz of the food/gifts/atmosphere etc. Other I got to say, for foreigners who went, they must have got a shock and ask themselves "OMG, didn't know SG is like that!". Why? coz there were so many local jokes, mostly LC / heartland kind of humour, that prob only singaporeans and malaysians can understand. but it was really quite funny i must say. At one, I was laughing till I was tearing. haha....
Overall, I think this is a very very well organised event. With good food (well no complains really), free gifts, free drinks, goodies bag, entertainment from home and a chance to mingle around with fellow singapore frens in amazing weather in a beautiful location. There were also so many bins and hardly any litter around. Very singaporean style indeed!
