Temirkanov conducts Mozart & Mahler

My first concert at Royal Albert Hall. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Temirkanov. They played the Mozart piano concerto and Mahler.. The pianist soloist was good... very good.. and the Mahler also. My first experience listening to Mahler live. It's a very long piece.. sat until my buttocks quite pain. Although we had very good seats (right in the middle - £30 tickets, we got for £15 only! ) the chairs are not very comfortable. It's not our Esplanade kind of comfortable chairs.

The magnificent brass section.. the opening trumpet solo of the Mahler really made me miss my trumpet abit... :(

Well, something unpleasant did happen during the concert.. when the pianist was having a solo part, and everyone was so absorbed with it, i suddenly heard a very familiar Nokia msg tune.. So it's not just singaporeans who do not off their mobiles during concerts, movies etc.. hmm.....

My first birthday celebration in london

Oops.. think this post is really post-dated.. hee.. here are some photos of me celebrating my first birthday outside Singapore.. thanks to liping and shuwen for the delicious spanish dinner treat :) we had sangria (a kind of spanish wine with mixed fruits - very nice), alot of tapas, and 1 big paella.. yummy..

Yay! Today going for my first concert in London! At Royal Albert Hall by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra... really looking forward to it.. but hope i don't fall asleep during the piano concerto though.. coz i usu do during piano concertos.. haha... can't really appreciate concertos.. but hope the Mahler will keep me awake.. haha..

Photos taken during the first 1 week in london.. ya abit late.. me and my mum went to places like Tate Modern (only went in there to visit toilet and take pictures), National History Museum, Portobello market etc.. the only photos will show places like British museum, London eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace etc.. all the touristy places :)

Trees with leaves again..

Spring can really make alot of difference. Check out the 2 photos below.. 1 taken when I first arrived in London, and 1 taken just today. In just a fast 1 month plus, the leaves have all grown out.. time flies..

You can't even see the houses on the other side of the dock anymore.. it's all blocked by the leaves :)

Spring is a good time..

I quite like the weather now. Very cooling and yet it's hot. how I wish it will stay like this. With all the trees bearing leaves, and flowers blooming.. but summer is coming soon too.. good time to travel, but it will be HOT HOT HOT!

Cooking at home

For someone who has seldom or never cook at home (other than the occasional instant noodles or pasta dish), having to learn to cook is a mean feat. But well, i think it's not that difficult after all. I cannot say that I'm fantastic, which I'm not. But at least I can manage a few simple dishes.. hee.. but i'll definitely need some brushing up.. got to learn from my housemate shuwen.. she can cook really well nowadays.. My cooking is so-so.. but when comes to frying things like eggs, it can still get pretty messy. not those nice nice shape. some of my cooking pictures:






wow.. i realised that's quite alot of rice.. don't worry, i have cut down on rice.. trying not to eat so much rice now!

yup that's roast chicken! at first we wanted to use oven.. but we didn't know how to use, and the oven was blowing cold air! in the end we used microwave. but luckily our landlady was nice.. she came down and taught us to use it when we told her we can't get it to function.

the pot of meat with 4 eggs was my mum's recipe.. hee.. Mummy, shuwen said it's nice ok! haha..

At home ~ Yup i'm online finally!

Finally i have internet at home. It's amazing how LONG I actually took before I get to access internet at home. Well, we had our internet since Tues or Wed actually. But my Firm's notebook is so super good that it cannot access the internet even though I'm logged on the wireless. It was a really bad experience.. The thought of having internet yet I cannot use?! well, I can, but I must plug in the ethernet cable which is so short and located along the corridor of my place. can't use it anywhere else without the cable. Very ma fan right?

Anyways, after consulting 3 IT specialists from my Firm, I still cannot solve it. In the end, i went out today to get a super long 10m Ethernet cable and plug it in. And guess what? the cable costs £25!!! (~ S$75)!! I can never imagine that a cable will cost so much lor.. haiz.. maybe it's because it's 10m long? Anyway. Don't care liao. I just bought it because I'm too desperate! and ksl lor.. got 10m cable at home also dun wanna send me. i'm sure the postage will cost less than S$75.. but then again, i'll have to wait like say 1 week?

talking about parcel, makes me mad again. The parcel which I sent out 2 days before CNY on 22 Feb, until now, I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVE IT!!! And when I just checked the status from the website, it says they are unable to confirm the status of my parcel.. faint liao.. i just hope it's not lost in transit, after we made endless rounds of efforts trying to get it delivered to the little post office at Lower Road. Why is this happening? In the end I ran out of contact lens solution and had to buy 1 from here. Costs £8.99!! ~ S$27 for 1 bottle when I can get 2 bottles at that price, and the 2 bottles are bigger.. sigh.. Contact lense solution and saline are really expensive here. Issit because ang mohs eat alot of carrots and get good eyesight so they dont need contact lens?
