Northern Ireland - 24-26 May (Part 3)

This is the final part of the Northern Ireland trip photos. We didn't really do much on the last day. Actually we wanted to catch the ferry across to Ratlin Island after some recommendations from our fellow hostelites. However by the time we got to the ferry terminal at Ballycastle, only then we realised that the ferries for that whole day was full!!! Bad thing of travelling on a bank holiday. The whole of UK is also travelling!

The ferry which would have taken us to Ratlin Island.

So with not much other things to do, we decided to drive back to Belfast and have lunch at the Crown Bar, one of the oldest and most loved landmarks of Belfast, and the most beautiful bar in the world.

Visit to Belfast

Indeed, the Crown Bar is very beautiful as compared to other bars.

The tables for meals are all in little cubicles like this.

In our own cubicle.

Train crossing the road.

I've really enjoyed this trip very much. Great travel mates, and fantastic weather. Road trips are still the best I think. Coz it gives soo much freedom to choose our own itinerary..

The coming weekend will be the last of my hectic 3-consecutive weekend trips! Trip to Paris, to hopefully, catch the French Open Grand Slam Tennis!

Northern Ireland - 24-26 May (Part 2)

We started our 2nd day with a visit to the Dunluce Castle.

View from the Dunluce castle

The Dunluce Castle in the background.

This is my favourite view of all times.

My new Facebook profile picture. hee..

We also visited the Bushmills' Distillery, which was the world's oldest whiskey distillery.

What is a visit to a whiskey distillery, without a drink of whiskey? This comes free with each ticket. However, it was toooo strong for me. I loaded the neat drink with loads of ice and water, and still didn't finish the drink.

Having a picnic at the country side.

On the way to the Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge.

View of the route of the hike to take to the rope bridge.

1km hike to the bridge.

Taking photos along the hike.

Queueing up to cross the bridge.

See the queue infront! Only a max of 8 pple can be on the bridge at any 1 time.

View of the bridge.

My turn to cross!! It wasn't as scary as what I thought it to be... phew!

At the other side of the bridge on Carrick Island.

Basking in the sun, with the North Atlantic Ocean just behind me.

You can actually get a certificate for crossing the bridge with £1!

Giant's Causeway!

View of the hike along the Giant Causeway.

These are rocks formed from lava from millions of years ago.

Sunset at around 10.20pm.

I love the waves.... our hostel is just at the foot of this hill, next to the beach.

Northern Ireland - 24-26 May (Part 1)

Just last weekend, over the bank holiday of 26 May, we went to Northern Ireland. Me, huili, melvin and nghia (melvin's colleague from vietnam).

I've never, never thought the north of Northern Ireland to be soo beautiful. It helped tremendously that it had been very good weather throughout the entire 3 days.

The weather on the first day was not so fantastic at the beginning. With a little bit of grey skies when we touched down at Belfast City Airport.

View of the small dock at the Carrickfergus Castle

At the walls of the Carrickfergus Castle

See someone jumping down from top of the wall?! That's a model of the olden day's sniper, the archer.

Inside the castle. See the man in red? that's the back view of the archer.

Games room in the castle.

don't you think the inside of the castle look just like a Thai-style palace? haha.. The ship thing on the table was used to store salt in the olden days. Back in those times, salt is a symbol of wealth. The more salt you have, the richer you are.

That's our rented car - a Peugeot 308. don't worry, i wasn't the driver. I'm just the navigator to Melvin.

We drove mostly along the Coast Road, which was regarded as one of the top 10 scenic drives in the world. The route starts all the way from Belfast to Cushendall towards Ballycastle. It then continues along the coast of Portrush before going on to Coleraine and Castlerock. We stayed at a little hostel at Castlerock, which was just right infront of the beach.

Nice little tunnel we were approaching.

Stopping somewhere along the way to take a walk along the coast.

At the Carnfunnock Country Park.

Starting our 2.9km hike at the Glenariff Forest Park to see 2 famous waterfalls.

This is the first.

Having a drink at a small pub, with 1.8km more to go!

The 2nd waterfall. I prefer this to the first. More special to see 3..

2 sheeps having it all.

Me and huili trying to be funny

That's Melvin and me trying to be funny!

Stopping along Torr Head to walk along the beach.

Some scenery which we saw along the way, and stopped the car to take photos. Very very beautiful.

Just imagine yourself living in that little house, overlooking the sea.
